The Low-Energy Day Plan for Busy Affiliate Marketers
Some days, I sit down with the laptop and I’ve got absolutely nothing left.
Maybe it’s been a long day with the family. Maybe I’ve slept badly. Maybe life’s just been a lot. Whatever the reason, the idea of writing a blog post or learning something new feels like climbing a mountain in flip-flops.
I used to push through those days. It never went well. Pushed through and then had to spend a few days just trying to manage,
So now I have a low-energy day plan.
Why I stopped pushing through
When I forced myself to work on empty, three things happened. The work was rubbish. I made mistakes I then had to fix. And I felt worse afterwards, which made the next day harder too.
In kitchens, a tired chef is a dangerous chef. You cut yourself, you burn things, you forget orders. The same thing happens online, just with fewer plasters, and less shouting.
The low-energy day plan
It’s deliberately tiny. Three things, and I only have to do the first one.
1. Reply to one message
Someone’s asked a question, left a comment or sent a message. I reply to one. Just one. It takes two minutes, and it keeps a real connection going.
2. Jot down one idea
Something from my day that could become a post. A moment with my son, something I noticed, a question someone asked. One line in my notes app. That’s future content sorted.
3. Then rest
Laptop closed. Brew. Feet up. And no guilt, because I’ve done something and the rest can wait.
This can be a simple as having a sleep to recharge my batteries, as they usually run at less than 50% most days, having something to eat when my blood sugar crashes, and being diabetic this isn’t a good thing. Hydrating, i’ve always got a bottle of water handy as being drained and dehydrated isn’t a good thing either. sometimes I have to just stay in bed as the sheer energy it takes to move is more than I have got.
Why this works
It keeps the chain going. On a low day, doing something small means I don’t feel like I’ve “fallen off”. Tomorrow, I’m picking up from a small win, not a blank.
It also only works because of the rest of my setup:
- My posts are scheduled ahead, so the blog keeps going regardless.
- My welcome emails run by themselves, so new subscribers still get looked after.
- My CBPC training is step by step, so when I’m back to full energy, I know exactly where I left off.
A setup that only works when you’re at 100% isn’t a very good setup. Most of us aren’t at 100% most of the time.
Things I don’t do on low days
- Check stats (guaranteed to make me feel worse)
- Make big decisions about the business
- Scroll other people’s highlight reels
- Start anything new
Be kind to yourself
If you’re building something around real life, you’re going to have low days. That’s not a sign you’re not cut out for it. It’s a sign you’re a person. Build your plans with that in mind, and you’ll still be going long after the “hustle every day” crowd have burnt out.
If you’d like a step-by-step way to learn that fits around good days and bad, CBPC is free to join, and you can go completely at your own pace then this is the place for you
